Usage and specifications
How to use this tool
Choose an image file and point to a location in the image. Inspect the selected pixel as HEX, RGB, HSL or CMYK values.
Understanding the result
Use HEX or RGB for CSS, or HSL when planning hue and lightness adjustments. Read the numeric value rather than estimating a color from appearance alone.
When to use it
Find a color for a web page, inspect a presentation palette or sample a color from a local image.
Practical tips
Edges and blurred areas contain mixed colors. Select the center of a flat region and compare nearby pixels.
Worked examples
Select a red pixel

|---|---|
A pixel with RGB values 255, 0, 0 | HEX #ff0000 / RGB 255, 0, 0 |
Specifications and limitations
- JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP are supported, up to 50 MiB per file.
- CMYK is a mathematical approximation, not an ICC-profile-based print conversion.
- Display settings and browser color management can affect how the sampled color looks.
